Cleaning your house in just 2 hours (and get kids to help!)
This cleaning plan is perfect for you if you feel like you are constantly cleaning but not seeing results. We will focus on the basics and teach you how to stay motivated so that you can get through all your chores.
Are your children at home? They can also help. It seems that you could get it done faster without them. But here’s the deal.
Your future self will be a great team player and cleaner if you teach them now how to clean. Think about it... In a few years, you will have cleaners who can take care of your chores. It will be worth it!
Before You Begin
Think Clean: Living with children can make it difficult to create the home that you want. This is what your home should be for.
Be thankful for your children who live, laugh, and undoubtedly make messes in the house. Your home might not be perfect for the foreseeable future. That’s OK.
Decluttering: It’s easier to tackle clutter when you already have some control over it. You can tackle the clutter first if you feel overwhelmed by it. Do not stress about cleaning a messy house with children running around. Trust us. It can be overwhelming to have too much clutter.
Take a deep breath. Take a step backward and take a look at each room. Then, decide which rooms you would like to work on. This could take several weeks or even months. That’s OK! It’s well worth the effort, and you will get back all of your time spent decluttering.
Keep it simple: The two-hour cleaning schedule doesn’t include any additional deep cleaning products. If you have more time, we will include any add-ons. This plan will help you feel more confident, and it will give you a plan for cleaning a home that is less stressful and clean with children.
Get Motivated: We find it is the best way to clean your house quickly. These are some of our favorite tricks:
- Make sure everyone is on board with a reward after you’re done. Children can help by getting a popsicle or a walk. Reaffirm the notion that you are a team. You’ll have more fun later if you work together!
- Put on music! Sometimes cleaning can be tedious and mindless. You can keep your spirits up with good music!
- Visualize the final result. Do you want to relax in a clean, fresh-smelling home? Are you planning a movie night in your clean, comfortable living room? Get motivated to complete the task!
- To keep you motivated, set a timer. This is a good way for the kids to be challenged and kept focused.
- Place a vase of fresh flowers outside your kitchen window. Fresh flowers make me feel motivated to clean up my house and maintain that homey, homey feeling.
