How to Quickly Clean Your Home When It’s Disgusting
It’s difficult to feel comfortable in your home, no matter how clean it is. Especially with children, it doesn’t take long for you to see your house and discover that it is already filthy.
Your sparkling clean house may look like it was robbed after one hard week. Burglars ruined your laundry, wrote on the walls, and raided the pantry and fridge, leaving your home covered in food and sticky marks.
It doesn’t take long for a messy home to feel overwhelming when you have children. You could have work stress, a newborn, illness, or life getting too stressful. Most people let their house slide when times get tough.
It’s okay; we’re here for you. Your house may be messy and cluttered, but that doesn’t make you a failure. You’re normal. You are so normal; it’s amazing. (So, no beating yourself up, okay?)
You are ready to conquer your chaotic home and find peace within your walls.
HOW TO CLEAN A MESSY HOME IN ONE DAY
It can be quite paralyzing to see your house in chaos. It feels like your entire house is in flames. You’re holding a sprayer and wondering where to direct the sprayer.
What do you do first when your house is messy? What do you use your metaphorical spray can for?
1. Get rid of the trash (15-20 minutes).
Open the windows if it is a good day and put on a movie for the kids. Then grab a huge trash bag. You will then go through the house, removing everything you can.
2. The Kitchen (1 hour or less).
The kitchen! A family kitchen is the best room in the house to transform from pristine to a Hoarders episode.
You’re not going deep clean the kitchen. You shouldn’t. The main objective of your kitchen should be to make it hygienic, functional, and clean. It should be clean enough that you don’t feel sad every time it is viewed.
3. The Laundry (30 minutes)
When it suddenly overwhelms you, dirty laundry can be a ninja-like quality.
You think you are fine for a moment. Then suddenly, you find yourself being attacked by laundry hampers full of laundry detergent and growing piles. Everyone is forced to wear their swimsuits because there is no clean underwear.
4. Paper Clutter (30 minutes)
Now it's time to get rid of all that paper clutter around your home.
5. Plan Grocery Shopping/Meal Planning (30 minutes)
You are already seeing and feeling a lot better in your home. Now is the time to take some time for yourself and plan your next week’s meals.
Also, you’ll create your shopping list to ensure you have everything you need for the next week.
